ericade.radio - Time for Flashback, tracks from the past - with your host DJ Daemon

DJ Daemon Time for flashback. Tracks from the past. With your host, DJ Daemon. We are back. Well, last week we didn't have a podcast episode out, but we do it now. Sorry for that. Today, no retro gaming reviews or anything. We are just playing the latest music and sometimes you have to go back. We are starting up with the song called Zitteraale.Banana of the Electric Knights. won the 60th place in 1999 in the Symposium demo party.

DJ Daemon welcomes you to the episode and presents the first song.

Banana of The electronic knights - Zitteraale

DJ Daemon presents the first medley of today

DJ Daemon You know the drill, it's time to do what we always do at this time, at least when we're just broadcasting your favorite music. Yep, it's time for the first medley of today. Starting up with Atomic and Zero823, then it's Cabbage Drop and Horse Tunnel, and then it's Retro104 with Butterscotch Drops the Lemon.

Atomyk - 0823

Cabbage drop - Horse tunnel

Retro104 - Butterscotch drops of lemon

DJ Daemon talks about the brand new website for ericade.radio

DJ Daemon The industry has spoken. And the color that's in with the in-crowd today is blue. That's a nice one, isn't it? All right, me and Kurios have worked really hard to give you the new arcade.radio, the website with a blue color tint, a next up or coming up feature. You can see what next is coming on the station. Also, it's a much more beautiful graphics. We fixed a number of bugs. We have a sun mode where you can reallyProject the whole station onto your big screen TV and enjoy it. It has a number of really good features. So you should go to Ericade.Radio and enjoy the new design. There are some minor bugs to iron out, but we are fixing them and that's how it is. Going on with Atomic and Lennon Kijen 1.

Atomyk - Len'en Keygen 1

DJ Daemon tells you the latest news about Revision 2026.

DJ Daemon Are we gonna talk about revision again? Yes, in fact we will. Me and Kurios have some new stuff to tell you. On the first of April, we will go to Saarbrücken in southern Germany where revision is held and broadcast live. We will be interviewing people and we will be broadcasting when the rest of the demo party is in an intermission when nothing is happening. So you can enjoy us and you can enjoy revision. You get...extra bonus everything this way. Go to Ericade. Radio and you know tune in in a few weeks from now and before that happens we are going on with Cabbage Drop and Cruise Control Santa.

Cabbage drop - Cruise control santa

DJ Daemon presents the second medley of today

DJ Daemon In today's episode you get a lot of medleys because we have some really cool new and short songs. the first up is something like a remake. I don't know if you remember Gidora's Toilet Story. I think it's a reference to Toy Story really. But today we're broadcasting a well C512W's version. Dennis Vibi with Wawawawa. And it's beyond really popular right now withForgetful.

C512w - Toilet story sven?!

Wibi - Wawawawa

Beyond - Forgetful

DJ Daemon complains about AI ... again.

DJ Daemon Going back to the old episodes of flashback can be a bit funny. I talked so much about covid because it was a thing. Does anyone really remember that one? I kinda want to forget about it. But it's 2026 now and it's all about AI, artificial stupidity or something like that. I don't know. What do you think about AI? I'm kind of worried about it. It seems to have a lot of properties ofbeing really stupid, but my brother told me something. He told me that he is, well, manager of a team of developers and he seemed to have started using Claude, if you know that one, instead of hiring junior programmers. It seems to be, it can do pretty much the same thing. Scary, yes, but also a bit promising because that may be where the future lies. I don't know about you, but it could be good, it could be bad.going on with Alex Smith and temporal disruption.

Alex Smith - Temporal disruption

Tofrance - Final

DJ Daemon presents the third medley of today

DJ Daemon We are loading up with lots of medleys today. This is the third one. And as you know, we play a lot of the music that's from 2026, brand new and created by a lot of artists that are popular right now. They're releasing a lot of new material and that's all for the better. We are starting up with yes, again, Beyond and Echo. And then yeah, Ether audio has come out.something cool it's called damaging torque and then it's beyond again with same old story because of course it is

Beyond - Echo

Ether audio - Damaging torque

Beyond - Same old story

DJ Daemon tells you about next week's Flashback, tracks from the past.

DJ Daemon The week of hard work is over, finally. And we have a lot of nice features on RK.RADIO. I'm not gonna mention them again, you know it. But I'm gonna tell you that this has meant that the retro gaming thing, well it's not going anymore. But it's coming back next week. I hope to have a really cool game that has been kinda not forgotten, but it's kinda people don't understand how monumentally important that game was. Yeah, that's next week. It's a retro game of course, so it's gonna be something else than I don't know, Counter-Strike? Nothing like that. This harkens back to the early 90s, but you see what it is. We are going on with Gunny and you came!

Gunny - You came

DJ Daemon talks about the improvements in the Youtube and Twitch

DJ Daemon Yeah, that seems vaguely familiar. I hope the copyright gods do not descend upon us. So the webpage is one thing, but YouTube, that's another thing. And that is where we have the stream and the podcast as well. You can go to YouTube and search for Ericade Radio, or you can go to Twitch that also have the live stream and search for the Ericade Radio Network. Going on with Beyond, yes, Beyond again.very popular right now with soft music.

Beyond - Soft music

DJ Daemon talks about the demo scene toplists we used to make.

DJ Daemon What do you think about the demo scene top lists? The ones we used to make back in the day from all the big nice demo parties. Should we do that again? Should we do it more, less, whatever? Tell us at radio at rk.net or sound off in the comments. We appreciate all kinds of comments, even the ones that are like, suck man. Or something like that. Anyway, we are going on with Lamar.is a Finnish artist, it's called Rescue Me, that's the song.

Laamaa - Rescue me

DJ Daemon says goodbye for now and leads you into the good night with...

DJ Daemon All good stuff must come to an end and it's time for us to say goodbye until next week. This is DJ Daemon leaving over the reins to the next podcast or if you're on the station to the next episode or whatever, what have you. Going on with last two songs leading you into that good night. It's The Moton and Walk on Walls. And then it's finally FNX and Time Warp. Thanks for listening.

The Motan - Walk on walls

DJ Daemon tells you to go Discord.

DJ Daemon If you feel that you want to talk back, remember that we are on Discord. Go to Erekade.radio slash Discord to join us in the discussions. In a week from now, another episode. Thanks for listening to Flashback Tracks from the past.

DJ Daemon

He got his Commodore 64 in 1989 and his first Amiga in 1990. A huge fan of tracker music and have had a long standing dream to create a radio show playing that kind of music. In 2020, that dream came true and in december Amiga Flashback started as a podcast. It was later renamed Flashback, tracks from the past and here we are.
He is also an orga for Swedish demo party Edison and a total retro nerd.

Mp3 file details

Waveform of episode 154, Chiptunes from a boombox near you, left channel above, right channel below: level in dB against time, 1:01:28 long. Open the waveform at full size (opens in a new tab)
Waveform A picture of the whole recording from start to end. The taller the shape, the louder that moment; the left channel is on top and the right channel below it. The scale up the side is the level in dB, the one along the bottom is the time. Select the picture to open it at full size.
Scan status Whether the station’s analyser could read this mp3. “OK” means every number in this box was measured from the actual audio, not copied from a tag that somebody typed.
OK
measured from the file itself
Scanned When the file was last analysed. If the mp3 is replaced afterwards, these numbers describe the old version until it is scanned again.
File size How much room the mp3 takes on a disk, and how much data you use when you play or download it. It is roughly the bit rate multiplied by the length.
84.9 MB
89 003 013 bytes
File last changed When the mp3 on our server was last written - usually the day it was uploaded, or encoded again.
Length How long the recording plays. It is measured from the audio itself, so it is right even when a tag in the file says something else.
1:01:28
hours : minutes : seconds
Bit rate How much data is spent on each second of sound. More data keeps more detail when the audio is squeezed into an mp3: 128 kbit/s is acceptable, 192 is good, and 320 is the most an mp3 can hold.
193 kbit/s
good quality
Sample rate Digital audio is a long row of measurements of the sound wave. This is how many are taken every second. 44.1 kHz is the CD standard and 48 kHz the video and broadcast standard - both capture everything a human ear can hear.
44.1 kHz
44 100 measurements a second
Channels How many separate signals the file holds. Mono is one. Stereo is two - left and right - which is what lets a sound be placed somewhere between your speakers.
Stereo
2 channels
Codec The method used to shrink the audio. MP3 leaves out the detail an ear is least likely to miss, which makes the file about a tenth of the size of the original recording.
MP3
Loudness The average loudness of the whole recording, the way a listener hears it (“integrated loudness”, in LUFS). The closer to 0, the louder. Music services aim for about -14 and podcasts for about -16, so that you do not have to reach for the volume between tracks.
−16.2 LUFS
typical for streaming and podcasts
Loudness range The distance between the quiet passages and the loud ones, in LU (1 LU is 1 dB). A small number means an even, compressed sound - good in a car or on a phone. A large number means big swings between soft and loud.
4.4 LU
very even
True peak The highest level the signal ever reaches, including the peaks that appear between the measurements when the file is turned back into sound. 0 is the ceiling: above about -1 dBTP, a recording can crackle (“clip”) on some players.
−0.2 dBTP
close to the ceiling - may distort on some players
Dynamic range How far the loudest peaks stand above the loud parts of the recording, in dB - the “DR” number that music collectors compare albums by. A low number (under 8) means the sound has been squeezed until everything is equally loud: punchy, but tiring to listen to. 14 and up means the music has room to breathe, with real hits and real quiet. It says nothing about how loud the file is: turning the volume down does not change it. Chip music made of steady square waves naturally lands low.
DR 13
12.7 dB · moderately dynamic
Left channel level The average strength of the left channel over the whole recording (“RMS”), counted in dB below the loudest level a digital file can hold (dBFS). More negative means quieter. Compare it with the right channel.
−17.8 dBFS
average (RMS) over the whole file
Right channel level The average strength of the right channel over the whole recording (“RMS”), counted in dB below the loudest level a digital file can hold (dBFS). More negative means quieter. Compare it with the left channel.
−17.9 dBFS
average (RMS) over the whole file
Channel balance The left level minus the right level. Close to 0 dB means both sides are equally loud. More than about 1 dB and the whole mix leans towards one ear.
0.07 dB
balanced
Stereo width How strong the part that DIFFERS between left and right is, compared with the part they share. A very low number (-40 dB or less) means both sides carry the same sound - mono in practice. A higher number means a wider stereo picture; a very high one can sound thin on a single speaker.
−12.8 dB
ordinary stereo
Cover art in the file Whether a picture is stored inside the mp3 itself. A player shows it as the album art when the file is played somewhere else - in a car, on a phone, offline.
Yes

ID3 tags Text stored inside the mp3 file itself - title, artist, album and so on. It is what a music player, a phone or a car stereo shows while it plays the file, and it travels with the file wherever it is copied.

genre The style of music, or the kind of programme, the file says it is.
Podcast
track The number of this recording within its album - for a podcast, usually the episode number.
154
title The name of the recording, as it is written inside the file.
154. Chiptunes from a boombox near you
artist Who made or performs the recording, as it is written inside the file.
The ERICADE Radio Network
album The album or collection the file says it belongs to. Stations and encoders sometimes use this field for notes of their own.
Format: podcast.pod TERN
