sat in my module directory for quite a while
I discarded it because I thought the choir arps don't fit
then I revisited it in Aug 2025 and said
\"hey this is so cool. gotta finish this one
and put it on the upcoming album\"

there was quite a lot of text here beforehand,
you know that kinda venting shit
about me dreaming of another life or whatever,
so I deleted it and now idk if I regret it?
kinda but kinda not because it was shitty cringe

uh idk I just know I was in a special mood
which resulted in that beginning chord progression
(probably the most awesome thing I ever composed)
so I tried really hard to make something that'd fit
and I made that arp thingy but it sounded very dissonant to me
so I was disappointed and left it to collect dust
until July this year when I was looking through my old wips
and found it again

lesson: save all your modules even if they're trash
you might have an epiphany when you're revisiting them

sequencing drums like this is very interesting and hard.
it's like making your own melody, but with the drums, of sorts.
lots of little things to fix and making it flow well...
I always liked what Joe Morello did for his drum solo on
Take Five, it always felt so melodic and poetic and different.
drum solos are usually insanely technical bursts of percussion
all over the place, but Morello did something entirely unique.
even his bandmates were taken aback because they expected
a typical drum solo. in fact, the track was made for the
drummer to show off on his kit.
drum solos never sound like that.
drums never sound like that, actually.
nothing sounds like that.
I guess it was a bit of inspiration, IDM aside.
what I did is 100 levels below Joe Morello's solo,
take a listen to that one :) it's on the Time Out album
                             by The Dave Brubeck Quartet (1959)
                       classic jazz album as evidenced by ^^^^

also for some reason I tried very hard not to sample any songs
from albums like I usually do.
all samples are from discord servers, calls, other modules,
games, there are some LMMS stock samples as well and even BotB compos.
I even made samples #15 and #31 in 2023 for my module res_lofi_irs.xm
                                                (sad song for mom&dad)
but there's no Beyonce, no Hair soundtrack and none of the
other albums I've ripped from :)
a lot of these are from various old sample directories
(makes sense since it was started in August of 2024)

#samples#
* Battle of the Bits dot Com (01-04, 33)
* keygen modules (05-07)
* LMMS (08-13)
* discord calls (14, 16, 17, 21, 27)
  (16 and 17 are from Ling Lin)
* res_lofi_irs.xm (15, 31)
* 24 Games for Windows 95 (19)
* CORAX.mo3 (20)
* Facebook Bolt app (22-24)
* Dynasty (25)
* Rags to Riches flash game (26)
* Luxor 3 (29, 30)

subsong 2 is the unused ending
