ericade.radio - Time for Flashback, tracks from the past - with your host DJ Daemon

DJ Daemon Time for flashback! Tracks from the past! With your host, DJ Daemon! 100 episodes! I did not know we could get there, but we did! No time for celebration today. Instead, we give you the songs from two tracked formats we generally don't play, Hively Tracker and AHX. I will explain, but first, let's hear what Hively Tracker can do!

DJ Daemon: 100 episodes! I did not know we would get there. But we did. No time for celebration. Today, we give you songs from two tracked formats we generally don't play: HivelyTracker Audio and Symponie. I will explain, but first, let's hear what HivelyTracker can do! 26s

Charles Ingalls of Genesis Project - Highscore musiikkia saunassa

DJ Daemon speaks: According to the Kodi wiki: \"Hively Tracker is a tracker program based upon the AHX format created in the mid '90s by Dexter and Pink of Abyss. The format was relatively popular, and many songs were created and used in scene productions and games. AHX was designed to create a very…

DJ Daemon Charles Ingalls of Genesis Project. The song was called High Score Musica Saunasa. Of course it's Finnish. And it's also Hively Tracker. So what is it then? According to the Kodai Wiki, Hively Tracker is a tracker program based on the AHX format created in the mid 90s by Dexter and Pink of Abyss. The format was relatively popular and many songs were created and used in scene productions and games. AHX was designed to create very SID-like sound on the Amiga. So it's meant for ship as tune sounds then. Let's talk AHX, but first some music. Are you with me? Here we go.

Larph - All fuses blown

DJ Daemon speaks: So Hively tracker is an improved AHX format. This asks the obvious question: what is AHX? According to their website: \"AHX is a protracker-like music editor that was designed especially to create C64-like synthetic tunes. There is no support for sampled instruments as chip tunes…

DJ Daemon and all fuses blown. That's a classical impulse tracker tune by the way. But heavily trackered on. Yeah that's an improved AHX format. This asks the obvious question what is AHX? According to their website it's a pro tracker like music editor that was designed especially to create C64 like synthetic tunes. There is no support for sample instruments as chiptunes are made to be as small in size as possible. It's a rather odd format and we only have a few of those on the station. Five will be added today.

Alex Man - Ocean

DJ Daemon wants to up the tempo a bit with the next song. 25s

DJ Daemon Soft and mellow fast-tracker tune. It's Alex Mann and Ocean. We need to up the tempo a bit with Citrus and GMC. But let me tell you, I'm DJ Daemon and I'm broadcasting from Northern Sweden, so keep listening to Flashback, tracks from the past.

Ctriz - Gmz

DJ Daemon If we gonna talk about all the formats, we need to play some as well. So here are two tunes. It's a jazz cat of Ghost Town with Jaded Light and then it's New Ghost in Town. Yeah, it really delivers the ship tune-ish feeling you want.

DJ Daemon notes that we have to play the formats we talk about. So here are two AHX-tunes. 24s

Jazzcat of Ghostown - Jaded lights

DJ Daemon: if you like what you're listening to, go to ericade.radio for more. 11s

DJ Daemon If you like what you're listening to, go to ericade.radio for more!

Jazzcat - New ghost in town

DJ Daemon gives you some more AHX-tunes. 20s

DJ Daemon Let's do some more AHX. Yep, next up is Smooth Talker by Jerry of Desire, another of those, you know, shippy tuneys that we are really, really celebrating today.

Jerry of Desire - Smooth Talker

DJ Daemon mentions the just ended demo parties Assembly, Evoke and Atwoods summer open air. They will hopefully be covered on an upcoming episode. 32s

DJ Daemon demo part is done. Yep, free demo parties just ended. Assembly Summer 2022 from Finland, Evoke 2022 from Germany and Atwoods Summer Open Air 2022, also Germany. So we're gonna look what comes out from there and if it's good, we're gonna play it. So expect some nice top list episodes from Flashback Tracks from the past.

Josss - Sunny soul

DJ Daemon talks about \"Demo scene report\" from PSEnough and recommds people watching it. 35s

DJ Daemon Danish rhythms from Joss. The song is called Sunny Soul. And I got something for you. If you go to YouTube and you search for demo scene report, you will find a channel that's helmed by PS Enduff. And he has a really, really good report every month talking about the demo scene and the parties and everything else. So yeah, go there. You know you want to.

M of Useless - Sunday

DJ Daemon He calls himself, or she calls herself, of useless. And the song is called Sunday, which is fitting, is Sunday today. Generally we broadcast on Saturdays, but today we had to postpone it as I'm going up north. And I'm actually sitting here in the Swedish nice mountain range called Sälen. We're going on with Vartal of Upper Aft getting a little bit more tempo out of your radio. This song is called Sabo

DJ Daemon speaks explains that he is in northern Sweden right now. 37s

Varthall of Up Rough - Szabo Tours 1.1

DJ Daemon talks about this being episode 100. 39s

DJ Daemon 100 episodes, one and a half year. Yeah, we started this show. That's also a podcast in 2020.And we're still running, that's great. We have covered a number of great demo parties. Revision, Edison, Flash Party, what have you. And we will continue doing that. We have had interviews and also a lot of great tracked music. Thank you for sticking with us and let's go on with Manvio Sans, waiting for Julia.

Manwe of SandS - Waiting for Julia

DJ Daemon: let's go on with another Hively tracker tune. 22s

DJ Daemon That was an impulse tracker tune. And let's go on with another high-velocity tracker one. It's called Galactic Emeralds, but we don't know who actually composed it. It's kinda weird, kinda great, kinda different.

Trackerartist - Galactic emeralds

DJ Daemon talks about the retro wave on Youtube (again). 35s

DJ Daemon you noticed, but if you go to YouTube, there are a lot of retro channels these days. I mean retro music. I talked about it a few episodes ago when I talked about how they call it shipwave, ship tunes and synthwave. Whatever you like, it seems to be there and we are part of this solution to the problem as to why can't we remember the VHS era? Well, good news, we can!

Yelm of Zymosis - Fake

DJ Daemon:Yelm gets another chance. 20s

DJ Daemon Yulm of Simosis and Fake, and we like that artist so much that we give them another chance with Hoolis 2. Today we're playing lesser known formats of tracked music.

Yelm of Zymosis - Huulis2

DJ Daemon asks you to send suggestions for people to interview. 38s

DJ Daemon bit of a ghostly feeling there. And we are going on with Viola and Destin La Lune, which mean the moon. Yes, actually. This is Flashback Tracks from the past. And a few weeks ago, we did an interview with Rankle, an old BBS sysop. If you like that kind of interview stuff, please send an email to radio at Ericade dot net and tell me if you know someone who want to talk on this show about all the retro stuff.Whatever, we are interested.

Vhiiula - Destin: La Lune

DJ Daemon As pleasant as this has been, it's time to say bye bye for now and we'll back next Saturday at 9pm here on Ericade.Radio. I'm Didier Daemon and leading you into that good night is Asic Views Pulse and The Door Game and Maran Project is last with Piano and Flames.

DJ Daemon thanks you for listening and leading you into that good night is... 29s
