🎤 Production Notes
The program was recorded and ready in the afternoon, but PlayIt live destroyed the whole playlist. This forced me to reassemble the whole program to put it in working order and the show went on the air one hour too late.ColophonThe title is a reference to Tom Lehrer's album with the same name. Mr. Lehrer played his sarcastic tunes sitting by a grand piano. Hence the cat and the scratched up sofa.

Time for another episode of Flashback Tracks from the past Wow, is 2021 over already? Hardly just begun, right? I don't know. Today we're gonna talk about some of the stuff that happened this year. When it comes to retro computing of course. And yes, what's up next year? Let's dig in. But first, the music.
Illmark of Tim Panic Airshow. Today we are among vampires. We remember the Sinclair spectrum of the computer and its owner and creator so to speak. We're gonna talk about Fondata Christmas and of course we have some new cool Amiga coming out. Yes I'm not kidding you. The time of wonders is not over yet.But before that, the music. Well, we're going on with some cool stuff like DNA Groove, we have 8PM, and the next up is Deathilus.
Jeffilus, Lemon Moon. And if you are in Sweden, up, next weekend on Saturday the 18th of December, well, Fondata is at it again. At 7pm Swedish time they will host a very informal live stream on their Twitch channel. There will be no compost.just holiday vibes and important topics such as which is the most generic Christmas Scrawler on Amiga. Join them for an evening of vintage computing Christmas nostalgia. Just go to twitch.tv slash fondata. Twitch.tv slash fondata. It's next Saturday.
8pm minitronics so let's go back to the summer the summer of 2021 it was when Apollo team released Firebird and Ice Drake they are two new accelerators for your Amiga they are of course the same kind of logic that's behind the vampire series the vampire v4 that is Firebird is for your Amiga 500A thousand and two thousand. And the twelve hundred they get ice drake. Well, I won't talk too much about it, but they are saying that the production should be getting underway in the late twenty twenty one, which is now at the beginning of twenty twenty two. So what will you get? Well, five hundred and twelve megabytes of memory, 16 bit audio. Yes, actually true. And one hundred megabit ethernet.SD card. That's part of it at least. Great! I'm looking forward to this.
DNA grew, questing a fairy. Okay, not everything has been good when it comes to news, pretty obviously. On the 16th of September 2021, we were reached by the news that Sir Clive Sinclair, perhaps best known as the inventor of the enormously popular CX Spectrum, has died at the age of 81 following a long illness. It was Eurogamer that reported this and they said although Sinclair found success creating a range of small calculators in early 70s, it was the advent of his first highly affordable mass market computer in 1980, the CX80, which retailed for less than 100 pounds that helped him making the whole thing a household name.
basic views pulse. Smooth yes, heck no. Ok, more techno then I guess. I don't know, but that sounded pretty smooth to me. I remember the Spectrum pretty much, I saw it when I was a kid. I wanted a computer of my own and just hoped I want that. Fortunately I must say I got a Commodore 64 later. I think that is simply so much a bare computer. But the CX-80 was a very interesting machine indeed. And in 2017 we got news from Retro Computing News that a brand new Sinclair Spectrum home computer for the 21st century has been launched. Okay, another of those mini devices, you know, built on modern hardware emulating it, I guess. Oh, by the way, you know one of those are coming around the corner. Yeah.
Zdenousi, home, single edit. For the last three to five years, miniature versions of old computers has been all the rage. There is a C64 version, which you plug into HDMI to your modern screen and can play all the games. Sega has one. I think the C64 actually have like three of those. I am not keeping track really. Yes, Nintendo, the entertainment, the classic entertainment NES also has one.Now the news is that the Amiga 500 mini is coming out. It will feature the original chipset and the ECS and also the advanced graphics architecture or AGA. What I'm saying is you get a small Amiga 500 clone that can play most of your games. You will have 25 classic Amiga games included which could be stuff like Alien Breed 3D Another World.Simon the Sorcerer's and yes, favorite of mine, Worms. You can also sideload your own games via USB stick with full VHD load support. Yes, this means it's the bee's knees of stuff like this. It comes out on March 31st 2021 and will cost somewhere around £120.
DNA grew needless sacrifice. Ericade. Radio is becoming a station of the stars. Our own stars basically. Yeah, that's right. If you go to our homepage now, you can rate all our tracks, all our podcasts and the artists and everything. You just set a star between one to five or one to five stars to tell us how well you like a song or an artist or something. Yeah.Great! Go there and do that now, because we need to know how to make this station better.
future chemist of astral winter dream we will continue broadcasting until I don't know when we stop broadcasting I guess seriously we will be on 24-7 during the whole Christmas and New Year's part of the year that's what's coming up the next weeks here the podcast will continue to the best of my ability and next year yeah it's gonna be great stuffWe're gonna have a number of demo parties covered. We could talk about and with artists doing tracked music. And of course, there will be a number of nice new tunes coming into this station. This is DJ Demon and I'm about to pack up here, but more music.
More station news, but first we need to tell you that's Sid and Elsie again with the Queen of Gothard. What's up? Yeah, well in a few weeks, I'm kidding you not, it's close now. You will get a request system. See if you like that song, you know, My Wolf 2, that's what I would ever request it if I could. You could just type it in there, push a button and in a few minutes you will hear it on the station, for real. Yeah, that's true.coming to you later in December. Really great. Everything with the homepage and stuff. You can see it on Ericade.radio.
Cybellius of Sonic PC, every way I turn. If you want to talk to me and other people around the station, mainly the listeners, the other listeners, then go to discord.io slash T-E-R-N and you can talk about anything. Actually, we are super geeky retro nerds, a lot of us.
DNA grew of embryo, kiss the horizon. That's the second song from that artist today. And we got one more for you. Before that, I want to say my name is DJ Demon. And next Saturday, another episode, I think we're gonna have our Christmas episode. You know, it's a bit more, well, Christmassy, longer, and hopefully I will not get drunk.
DNA grew, marbles deluxe. In a few weeks there will be more jingles or station ideas coming to this station and the best of Ericade.radio yes, truly nice. That will be from Jono Woodward who is our creator of those things. Last two songs.leading you into that good night. That's Dragonfly and mindlessly drifting. And the last one, 8pm, color spectrum. Thanks for listening, flashback tracks from the past will be available as a podcast in a few hours and don't forget, next Saturday another episode.
the best music composed on protracker, noistracker, impulse tracker and fast tracker.
