🎤 Production Notes
One of those demo parties I had running on the big screen in my living room, while recording and monitoring it from my workdesk. I avoid using streamcopy and always work hard to source the tracked tunes. But sometimes I can't get all of them and then stream copy is then really nice to have.Colophone:It's the national motto of France that I've changed a bit. Trackermusic was certainly not part of it. The original motto reads: "liberty, equality, fraternity".

listening to the Eracade Radio Network. Time for another episode of Amiga Flashback. Try as it might, COVID-19 has been unable to break the demo scene. Coming to a screen near you, the online Shadow Party 2021 sends its signal from France in Europe. Today, on the 22nd of May 2021, seven contestants battled it out in the Old School Tracker Competition. As we don't have the results yet, I will play them in my own order. First out is 8BM from Poland and all my circuits. Yep, it's a Futurama reference.
Let's rock!
Time to take a deep breath because the next entry is called TDT TDH-AD, the demo track that didn't have a demo. It's by CSJ of Desire and Persuasive Music and Slide of Polka Brothers. CSJ used to be known as Jazz and has a long career making music for the game industry. He also got a record deal in 2000.Slide is a Danish artist with many tunes to his name.
Music on an Amstrad CPC? Yeah sure, it's not a problem from Glaufuck who really knows how to push free tracks to the max. The tune is called Sontag Beat and Glaufuck hails from France.
picture yourself on a boat in a river and for some reason Einstein sits by your side. Yep, that may be what Bird have been thinking when he created Ro with Einstein. Bird comes from Corsica, which is part of France.
Polish artist Aceman often stands for the weird side of the track recine, with crazy but great tunes like Wonka Honk and Vintage Grove. Now he's back together with Maze and the tune is called Evolution. Maze is Norwegian by the way.
Another great tune from the tracker competition. Alright, next up. Amiga 4 channels delivered the goods again, as provided by Mestra from Brainstorm and Nectarine. Mestra's real name is Kjell Pedersen and he is from Norway. Should we really even plug the competition? Sure, why not.The group Nectarine was started by the Retro Tracker Music radio station with the same name.
So, last in the line-up of the shadow party contestants is... ...Synesthesia. And the song is called Voices in the Wall. Is it about madness or does it refer to noisy neighbors? It's unknown at this time, but we do know that Synesthesia comes from Great Britain.
And that's all of the 7 contestants. We will get to know who wins tomorrow and I will update the podcast notes with the proper results later. So what about the shadow party? I'm really happy I went or should I say connected to it. Let's play some music and then over to a review of the party.
Aisman and Dirty Tricks and he is back already as we are out of tunes from the competition. So you know, most of the demo parties since Covid 19 sunk its claws into all of us had to be online or be cancelled. The online presence is a challenge as it requires a lot of preparations just for the technology to work. This is the first time for them and thus there were many breaks, lost segments and events starting too late or too early. But still, it was fun and well worth watching.
Jaren Tell, Tin Tin on the moon. Let's talk about what happened yesterday. It was Friday and the shaders demo put a number of very talented programmers up against each other trying to in real time come up with the best graphical representation of the music playing in the background. You got to see the graphics change as they changed their programming code in real time. Yes.I must say that Sorg was my favorite. He started up with a very little cube rotating around its own axis. And when he was done with it, it was an explosion of colors and neon light and number of cubes rotating like an electron cluster around some sort of atom. It was fantastic. And there were many other really, really good examples of graphicExpertise if I may say so.
That would be Aisman and of course, you know, he brings the crazy. That song is called Teletubbies and yes, it does feature samples from the TV series. The tracker competition was great, but I was a bit perplexed when it suddenly ended as all entries had been played. I actually did expect more than just seven of them, but they were great as you just heard. The streaming competition was next and it was nice, but it's not the kind of music we play here.
Chee-yub, get on with it! Yeah, let's! The evening of today held a very complex and advanced seminar on FPGA technology. While amazing, it was too much above my skill level to grasp. And as I'm writing this, the demo competitions are running and doing amazing things with very limited hardware.
The Racks and Tears of Christmas. Do you remember Second Reality? Yeah, it was a magic demo. And now they done it for Augmented Reality. Yes, I just saw it. It's something special. And it ran on the demo competition here on Shadow Party. It's not on my bucket list, but it should have been.
Another A-man? Yeah of course, I love his music, I really do. This is the last one, it's called Sugar Rush. And as we are leaving Shadow Party, tomorrow on Sunday is the last day. What can we look forward to? A whole lot actually. Next up, what I know at least, is Fondata, which is on the 5th of June, a few weeks from now.and it's in Sweden but don't worry it's online you can join it it is www.fondata.org you should go I really think so it's Rankyl and his team bringing some really good C64, Amiga,
Lamar and Eric's Dictatory remix. Okay, Dictator remix I guess. Hey, I don't know if you heard about it, but WB 3.2 is here. Yes, Hyperion has delivered or started selling that is the newest kickstart 3.2 with a ship and the WB that's the workbench diskettes and a CD and stuff. I actually ordered it.I am not going to endorse it as I haven't tried it and I definitely do not get paid for saying this, but I think it is a cool thing and I'm gonna try it out and maybe say something if it's worth the upgrade or not. I'm just giving you a little bit of a heads up there. Well, anyway, more music.
Mr Sandman, it sounds like that. No, it's called By Mode One and it's by Matt YTPMV. And few songs of the tracker variety puts a bigger smile on my face than this one. If you're old enough, you should know that this is one of the songs from The Sims, the original game from 2000 somewhere. I don't know exactly when it was released. But it's fantastic, and the game, I absolutely loved The Sims. It's retro by today's standard, but I cannot talk about it right now, because it's a little bit out of the scope of this discussion.
Zero Prophet, Mac 5, a ship tune of really nice stripe. So we're gonna lead you into the good night with Purple Motion of Future Crew, the second reality jazz. It's an old song, but given the fact that I spoke about the augmented reality version of it, how can I not play it? Anyway, this is DJ Demon saying bye bye now and in one week...I think we will be talking about something completely different. Remember that radio dot Eric a dot net is the website for this podcast and the radio station.
