Time for flashback! Tracks from the past! With your host, DJ Daemon! 100 episodes! I did not know we could get there, but we did! No time for celebration today. Instead, we give you the songs from two tracked formats we generally don't play, Hively Tracker and AHX. I will explain, but first, let's hear what Hively Tracker can do!

Charles Ingalls of Genesis Project. The song was called High Score Musica Saunasa. Of course it's Finnish. And it's also Hively Tracker. So what is it then? According to the Kodai Wiki, Hively Tracker is a tracker program based on the AHX format created in the mid 90s by Dexter and Pink of Abyss.The format was relatively popular and many songs were created and used in scene productions and games. AHX was designed to create very SID-like sound on the Amiga. So it's meant for ship as tune sounds then. Let's talk AHX, but first some music. Are you with me? Here we go.

and all fuses blown. That's a classical impulse tracker tune by the way. But heavily trackered on. Yeah that's an improved AHX format. This asks the obvious question what is AHX? According to their website it's a pro tracker like music editor that was designed especially to create C64 like synthetic tunes.There is no support for sample instruments as chiptunes are made to be as small in size as possible. It's a rather odd format and we only have a few of those on the station. Five will be added today.

Soft and mellow fast-tracker tune. It's Alex Mann and Ocean. We need to up the tempo a bit with Citrus and GMC. But let me tell you, I'm DJ Demon and I'm broadcasting from Northern Sweden, so keep listening to Flashback, tracks from the past.

If we gonna talk about all the formats, we need to play some as well. So here are two tunes. It's a jazz cat of Ghost Town with Jaded Light and then it's New Ghost in Town. Yeah, it really delivers the ship tune-ish feeling you want.

Generally we broadcast on Saturdays, but today we had to postpone it as I'm going up north. And I'm actually sitting here in the Swedish nice mountain range called Sälen. I talked about it a few episodes ago when I talked about how they call it shipwave, ship tunes and synthwave. Whatever you like, it seems to be there and we are part of this solution to the problem as to why can't we remember the VHS era? Well, good news, we can!
