Time for flashback. Tracks from the past. With your host, DJ Daemon. We've just been reached by the news that legendary composer Vangelis has passed on. He walked into that good night on the 17th of May 2022 and in this hour we will play music by tracked artists clearly inspired by the man. In many ways they pay tribute to the inspiration he gave to the world.Did you do you want here to mourn and to celebrate?
Nitzer and Emptiness. Vangelis has been an inspiration for a lot of track music artists. This is clear. The man was born in 1943 in March. He is known professionally as Vangelis or was known and he passed away a few days ago. His real name is Greek and I dare not try to pronounce it.We will talk more about him, but we must go on with the first medley of the day. It's Three Times Lamb of Marshmallow and Farewell Tears, Loneliness and his last one, Memoirs. And the last one in this medley will be Brian and Brian's invention, the number one in D minor.
Sad and heavy chords, but it is a somber day. If you never heard anything by Vangelis, I wonder have you my friend lived under a stone or something? You probably know about Chariots of Fire, because that is his most famous song. It was composed for the Oscar-winning movie Chariots of Fire. And we are going on with emo jerky oddity of nature.
Here's a question for you. Do you think it is possible to use the Amiga to make great orchestral music? Absolutely! It's been done many times. And here's one example. It's BTS and Orchestra 1990. He writes, this tune was made and composed in the first days of October 1990 and it was by BTS.All samples were taken from Roland S50, and Led Farguss in 2019 rated it 8 out of 10 and wrote a very long orchestral composition made in ProTracker, I think.
He was kind of a secretive man. Yeah, Vangelis. In Wikipedia they write, for an artist of his stature, very little is known about Vangelis personal life and he rarely gave interviews to journalists. But he did say some stuff.and he had kinda turned his back on the lifestyle, the decadent lifestyle of his band days. So he chose not to use alcohol or drugs. Exactly where lived his last years is not known, but we know he's no longer with us. But we have more music just to play for you, so you know how great orchestral synthesizers and the music they produce can be.Next up is Gothur and Conquest of Farrakhan.
As I stated, that was Gaffer and the song was called Conquest of Farah Khan. Very popular on the mod archive with many 8s, 9s and even more 10s out of 10. So yeah, I can totally get why that is a great song. Not just me thinking that obviously. Going on with Warhawk of Cheetah and Jorgen Dyr.
Going back to Wikipedia about Vangelis' musical style and composition. They write, The musical style of Vangelis is diverse, although he primarily used electronic music instruments which characterize electronic music. His music has been described as a mixture of electronica, classical, progressive rock, jazz, ambient, avant-garde, experimental and world.Vangelis is sometimes categorized as new age. Yeah. This classification has been disputed. Wikipedia. Original research there. I don't know. Anyway, we're going over Shnu and Sonatina in Eid Major.
it's time for the second medley of today. A set of four tunes. It's Edric with Nara and Mara's battle, Jumarokasuga with the Swan Lake, and an unknown artist with triology, and finally, Opinache, sweet melody.
Going on with the Corsairs voyage by Goffer and he writes, sit back and relax, I hope you enjoy this, this is the culmination of about a month of trekking. And it sounds depart.
We haven't forgotten about Jumalauta, the Finnish demo party that went a few weeks ago. Last week I think even. It will be covered in a few weeks, yes. But we are going on with serious two songs. The first one is Love. And this is Flashback, tracks from the past. And I'm DJ D-MOM.
It is time to close shop for today. Next week another episode, but I am leaving the studio in a few minutes. Leading you into that good night is serious and utopia. It's not the one from the game that would be another utopia. I'm DJ Daemon and if you want to listen to more podcasts from me, go to Ericade.radio. Yeah, we have a whole radio station there, know. Great.Good night.
Ericade Radio Network, with all the best music composed on pro tracker, noise tracker, impulse tracker and fast tracker. What do know, Nicole is back, why not? Alright, sorry, I got time for one more track for you. It's Sandman and Evil Dreams, but I wish you good dreams.
