AboutA typical piano has 88 keys spanning seven octaves. It has an almost magic versatility and is hard to get sounding right when sampling it. Today’s tracked music artists tackle this huge task with great results most of the time. DJ Daemon showcases some of the best ever made and talks about them.

🎤 Production Notes

Colophon:"88 keys" referes to the piano. There are a number of songs, artworks and TV-production called something like this title. It's simply saying that piano-music can be heavenly.

Artist and comedian Tom Lehrer, he once said about playing folk music on a piano. I have a song here which I realize should be accompanied on a folk instrument in which category the piano does not alas qualify. So imagine if you will that I'm playing on an 88 string guitar. And imagine no more! This is an hour of tracker music playing on AJ8 piano keys from heaven.

Erik Zalitis 01:52.696

We started this hour with an unknown artist and the song is called Affair. The piano is a fantastic instrument. When I was a kid I struggled a lot to learn it and I never became very good at it. But still, it's amazing. And we are going to play piano music today, as I promised. Next up is a medley with three songs.Dougal and Pikman of Mass and Canon, yes the Canon D you heard it before. Then it's LSman09, Lazy 007 and last up, Andriggas Viklund, a moment of love.

Erik Zalitis 09:29.23

To be honest with you, I could probably have set the next song as a part of the medley. short, but it's sweet. It's CK'd and Realm of Kings. He doesn't really like it for some reason. In the comments he writes, well this little song was composed for TMZ's second compo. Well, I don't like this song. Somehow this piece doesn't have any purpose. Just parts after parts. That's my opinion.I don't know if you like this. And I can tell you, yes, in fact I do.

Erik Zalitis 11:32.206

You're tuned to Flashback, tracks from the past, and I'm DJ Daemon. This hour it's all about piano music. And next up is Crim of Lemuride and Old School. Wolfy rates it a 9 out of 10 on ModArchive, and it was rated this way 2011. He writes, superb piece of composing. This guy really put a lot of thought and effort into this.

Erik Zalitis 14:55.886

I got a memory from the 80s. I was young and watching the incredible Hulk, movie. It's a bit sad in the end if I remember correctly. And my mother, she said, he's crying. I was kind of touched, but I would not admit as much. said, no, I got something in my eye. Right, right. Next up is exactly that end theme. It's from Reptile.

Erik Zalitis 17:37.102

Oh yes, just second here, I need to clean my glasses. They f***ed over for some reason. Sorry, I have no idea why. Next up is Basil War and The Sunrise. was composed in February 22. He calls it a strange but positive song. However, Simon Smith rated it 4 out of 10 in 27, writingIt starts out with a rather heavy-fisted low-pitched piano melody, which sounds like a badly played real piano. That's mixed praise for you. Then lightens up considerably at about 1 minute to 1.30 into quite a pretty piece.

Erik Zalitis 20:44.59

Ok, this was a bit of an experiment, have to give you that. Half of the song is really really good and the beginning is a bit underwhelming, but kinda the whole thing comes together pretty well anyway. But we are going on with a more sure thing, that's six pack and pure. And this highly rated tune the artist writes himself. I composed pure.on the piano about two years ago and I've been wanting to write it in fast tracker ever since. At first I wanted to include grotesque drums but in the end the song felt right without it and that's a good way of seeing it. It really feels good.

Erik Zalitis 24:52.334

Next up, let's switch to another season. It's Autumn Rain with The Mage. And Lacquered Moose, he wrote in 21, rating it 7 out of 10. A fairly simple yet effective piece here, with some nice chords and good use of samples. A new idea, or two towards the middle of the piece would have been good, as this piece gets rather repetitive. And I would say actually I think it's a good one and hear it out.

Erik Zalitis 28:56.462

Let's talk demo parties folks, May is here and we got a number of them. Coming up next is Jumalauta, 21 years Ultimate Faryon mega experience. It runs on the 13th. That's next week by the way. Then comes Birdie 2022, Outline 2022, Moonshine Dragons 2022,and June has FIldex 2022, then comes a favorite of mine, Fondata 2022, Shadowparty 2022, QBparty6 and Gubbdata 2022 is in July.

Erik Zalitis 34:45.128

Let's go full symphonic mode. This is the music ant and night drive. We found some texts in the mod archive comment section and the internal texts, clipped as they may be, read. Found some excellent samples of a violin section, counter bass section and a bright Jan Ha grand piano. This tune features a nice slow and relaxing mood.to Great! Any comments? Yes, we have MPXVM, rating it 9 out of 10, and ADKD, rating it 9 out of 10, and the latter writes, I love the piano playing, and how it flows with the strings. This sound is top!

Erik Zalitis 38:08.184

Some artists want to impart knowledge and wisdom in their instrumentalists. Warhawk is one of these, as he writes in the Eagle Flight. Eagles fly overseas, over rivers and over hills. They watch the ground as they glide up there in the sky.I'm giving up on this song now, I just don't like it. Just fly with the eagle and let it take you where you want to go.

Erik Zalitis 41:14.126

We are going on with Archangel and Wonderland. And he wrote it in 1996. Comments? Mad as per usual. He wrote in 27, giving it 8 out of 10. A rather splendid piano piece. Good job! It even ends nicely. Recommended to anyone who likes a bit of calm piano.and Starry writes in 1999 rating it 8 out of 10. Wonderland is a soft piano ballad of the kind that can be really relaxing to the mind to listen to.

Erik Zalitis 44:29.742

From the year 1992 comes the next song. It's Sirius and Constellations. Back in the day he was known as JPM of Awesome.

Erik Zalitis 47:28.984

Rob Ferguson or Guardian Angel has written the next song. It's called For What You've Done. He writes, This beautiful song was written Easter 1996 as a thank you for all that God has done in my life. I hope you enjoyed this gentle melody of this relaxing piece. I really enjoyed composing this one. God bless you all.

Erik Zalitis 55:01.474
