AboutLast week it was classic music. And today DJ Daemon lets his hair down. What little he has left, that is. It’s time for a party at the barn. It will go on until the cows come home, if anyone is still standing, that is. Today, we play bluegrass and country and western, as envisioned by the scene’s tracked artists.Note: today marks the 27th anniversary of DJ Daemon entering the airwaves on a regular basis. This is worth celebrating as well.

🎤 Production Notes

Colophon:The phrase "until the cows come home" means "a very long time". But it relates to the cows being away during the night, coming home in the morning. This meant, the barn was empty, except for the horses. So a long and very boozy party was off course possible and so... Yeah... You know!

There's an old joke that the southerners of the US of A, they like both kind of music. Country and western. And that's all the music there is. In this hour, that's true. Because it's time to party with the horses till the cows come home. Country, western and bluegrass made by the usual suspects.attract music scene.

Erik Zalitis 02:28.398

Alright partner, pull out your six shooter and shoot a hole in the roof. Because why not? Party sucks and it's by Dreamer. Comments on the mod archive as per usual. This time by Mod. It was in 2007 and he rated the song 9 out of 10. This song kicks arse. Seriously, this is so unusual and fiercely funny it's just worth having a listen for novelty's sake.Yeah, I agree. And next up, it's Shining Old Boots. It's something that was ripped from Banana Designs' Vonko demo and the song originally by Brain Bug. You know exactly how that's gonna sound.

Erik Zalitis 04:37.518

Next up is Kursiv and it's by Choice of Rembrex. In the comments he writes, do as I use fasttracker. Hehehe. Greetings also to everyone I met at TG97. That's the gathering by the way. Enjoy this. I sure gonna do that. Here's a comment from TMA placeholder that is an unknown person. In 1999 rating the song 8 out of 10.A funny, happy song with some country inspiration. Flute, piano and banjos are mixed in a cool way. The song changes all the time and never gets boring. In the end it surprises with a slow down but then speeds up again and sounds wonderful. Excellent tuned and composed. Samples sound perfect. The composer mixes great music with cool effects and speed changing. The flute and the piano are incredible, and I guess he put a lot of work behind this song.

Erik Zalitis 08:56.588

next song I'm gonna have to be a little bit more charitable as it's not really bluegrass or country and western but it's kinda leaning that direction sometimes. Song is called Eternal Battle and it's my 59th creation. And who says that? That would be Damian Blonde. It was completed in June 1998.

Erik Zalitis 11:42.816

Epic song if you ask any hillbilly. And I agree, it is epic and awesome. Next up, it's DJ C Jack and Country. A comment on Modarchive, said, well, another great DJ C Jack song. Nice. Although it's Country, I'll try very hard not to be biased. Why? I hate Country. Well, it's pretty good as music goes. Nice fiddled sams.Although very slow for country, it has potential. I recommend this to someone who likes country very much. Although it's there, there can be more. This anonymous commenter, he just gave it 4 out of 10, but I think it deserves more, much more. At least 8 out of 10 if I am allowed.

Erik Zalitis 14:21.102

Alright, I might actually be more kind than your average commenter on ModArchive, because next up is one that got rated 4 out of 10. Again! This time is Defenseman, and the year was 99. Parts of this song are very good, but the overall composition is difficult to follow. Some of the melodies are too complex, which renders them unmemorable. On the plus side, there are some very cool syncopations and harmonies, the likes of which average mod do not offer. The mix of instruments is bizarre. The bottle blower sample using this way is annoying. Also, while syncopated rhythms are cool, there is no consistency to the song. It's a busy, horky-jerky delivery. I would suggest some kind of underlying rhythm and...that keeps things grounded better.

Erik Zalitis 17:56.558

Here in Sweden we have something called Dansband. Yeah, it is dance music if you like lots of barn dances and maybe accordion every single day of the year. Okay, so we are going on with Leif Ragnarsdans Orchester, a tune that was composed by Swedish Joachan. And ADKD commented in 2020, rating the song 8 out of 10.although not my favorite style of music. Smiley. Cuders for the good work. I gather that for this genre it's next to perfectly arranged.

Erik Zalitis 21:41.198

I know what southern comfort is, and it's great. Here is Jerry serving up some western comfort, and the commenters are very, very supportive. Arne Puschelski in 2009 rates it 7 out of 10, and writes, Not bad, sounds a bit like a western version of House of the Rising Sun, but in all, it's enjoyable. Dude, I mean...House of the Rising Sun is one of the best songs ever written and sang. I mean, I'm saying that. That is a comparison. Okay, okay, okay. Calm down, Erik. Next up is Gaidora in 2000, rating the song 9 out of 10. This song reminds me of two songs. I can't come up with the full names of those, but it isn't a remix or cover. This style is not frequently tracked. That's why I am amazed every time I hear a song like this. Great melodies and arrangement all over. But the drums is way too weak. No special effects, great quality.

Erik Zalitis 25:16.846

of Vanity and the song is called Tanya. Well hmm, Marty of Vanity, no I am not very familiar with him, but Led Sorgas likes the song. In 2019, rating it 7 out of 10, he simply writes a great and happy mod from a good artist. Yes, definitely, and I like hearing another mod, you know, Amiga 4 channels, because that's...simply the basic stuff and not simply the whole heritage of everything that's tracked.

Erik Zalitis 28:50.91

Memphis of funk and gray is next up Warhawk posted a comment in 99 Rating it 9 out of 10 and writing Thunder comes out to my speakers and some nice hit hats Hi hats, I guess Then a nice funky tune begins sounds like country or something. I enjoy this big time It was a long time since I heard something like this lastThe song is very good and some vocals too. I'm amazed, this song has all it seems. And everything sounds good too. Especially the electric guitar. It's awesome. Great samples used by a great composer, which I can't recall her hearing a tune from. It's very good. Please download it. You won't regret it if you like this kind of music. It's not even the slightest representativeIt's a very good job, Mephis.

Erik Zalitis 32:41.196

I don't know why Sirius and Bad People, this is the next song, calls itself country. It's listed in that genre, but hey, it's a great song and you're tuned to flashback tracks from the past. And if you want to listen to all the podcasts, all the old ones that is, go to Ericade. Radio. Here is me, DJ Daemon, and here is Sirius, Bad People.

Erik Zalitis 37:30.262

wheat and the next song it's radix and Tilbury fair it has a number of comments I really don't have time to read them all but they get nine ten eight ten ten again nine nine and ten and nine out of ten so great tune all over says a lot of people but if I'm gonna read one of them it's MJD and I'd forgotten about this little jamIt always made me want to sing along, but for some reason I never have. Well, you can do it now.

Erik Zalitis 40:06.456

Honestly this is one of the greatest one this hour, if you ask me. But I got something for you right here, right now. It's counter western if you're really creative, but it's awesome. It's actually four songs in a row, from Robrik. The first one is called Areanova. And yes, they are super great.

Erik Zalitis 46:59.202

The real name is Roberto Risioppo and he has a number of really really well done tunes. We're going on with Il mio cuore. This is Flashback, Tracks from the past and I'm DJ Daemon.

Erik Zalitis 53:55.704

We have two more songs to go, and next up it's La Nostra Terra and the last song leading you into that good night. That would be Piccola Gita. I'm DJ Demon, and if you want to listen to this podcast or anything else on the station, go to Ericade.Radio. Thanks for listening, and see you next week.

Erik Zalitis 57:33.396

One little last word of advice. Yeah, I'm going away in a few minutes, but all I gotta say is this. In one month from now, you get revision. Yes, it's back. The great demo party. Maybe the greatest one. Yeah, we will be playing the songs from it. I promise you that. Well, well, go away now.
