🎤 Production Notes
People have asked me to talk more about the songs, so this is it. I present it a bit like the presenters at Swedish Broadcasting Program 2 here in Sweden.Colophon:Many compositions can have names like "Concert for piano in D-minor" or something like that. Just joking around with that.
📝 Transcript
Time for another episode of Flashback. Tracks from the past. Last summer it was all about jazz. The episode was called Smoke Rings from Heaven. And I like that kind idea. So let's do it again, but this time it's classic music. And we are starting this hour up with Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy. It's from Tchaikovsky.
clear is that every artist has to do something special with the tune. We've heard the originals many times, but the tracked music entries, they make them sound a little bit more interesting. Okay. But next up is not really classic music, but it's great. It's Angel Tears from Elia. And on ModArchive, BTMe commented in 2009 while rating the tune 8 out of 10.This is such a lovely little tune that comes across very sad at the start and once then the guitars come in just adds to the overall feel of the track.
Now that was nice. We have to go on with something more classic because yeah, that's the program idea. And next up is Morgenstämning. Yeah, it's a morning from the Per Gunt suite by Edvard Grieg and it's in Jogiers classic style. One comment on the mod archives says this is one of Jogiers earlier mods from 1991, that is their Amiga tunes.but it's still very distinctive. Obviously I cannot give any points for originality, but the style in which it has been done is excellent.
It's beautiful really. But classic music can be fantastic. And I'm gonna have a really really kind definition of classic music. Because everything I play here wasn't written originally by some master. But it sounds like it may have been. And if you like piano, I like that, I can tell you that much. You're gonna like Fred and Bawel. Yes. Pianos, cue it up.
Soft and nice and still very symphonic. Ok, on to Gopher with Jörnemann's Quest. Stealing another comment from Modarchive, it's Arne Puschelski. In 2009, rating the song 10 out of 10, he wrote this. I like this track very much. Great composing and so many feeling. What can I say? It's great as ever. What I listen from Goffer. Classic orchestral. On its best. Awesome work.
You have to forgive me for not correcting the grammar on the comments. It's more authentic that way. And yeah, I screw up the language myself sometimes, so yeah, there's always that. We like Goffer so much that he has to be given a second chance. We are going on with Hordes Amassed. And in 2009, rating the tune 9 out of 10, Saga Music wrote...Great orchestral soundtrack. The panning seems a little bit one sided at some point, but overall there is nothing big to complain about. And Maud, he wrote in 2007 giving it 9 out of 10. Spectacular orchestral soundtrack work by Goffer. Nice work.
Movies often use classical music, but it's been specifically composed for each movie. Yeah, I understand that. But Giacomere, facing the madness, has composed something that seems to go along with a really epic computer game or, yeah, a movie. He's facing the madness with impulse tracker in his hand.
For a guy like me with mild synesthesia, next song sounds like...on a tapestry flowing around and the bells have a very distinct red feeling to them. It's Madbrain, like mind them I guess, and song is called Storybook.
We can't always get what we want. And I want Dark Castle Part 2. But we have to make do with the first part. It's by Magnum Force. And he writes, Part 2 is coming soon so watch out. All stuff composed by, yeah, Magnum Force. Unfortunately, no. No Part 2 seems to exist. Warhawk writes on the mod-archive as a comment in 2000 giving the tune 9 out of 10. First of,I wanna say I haven't heard anything like this in the mod format, so this song captured my attention directly. I just had to keep listening. And the sound of it, it's great.
Here an interesting one. It's Mr. Vegas, Priam and Achilles. It's a song that starts slowly and builds up tempo until it reaches a rousing finale.
We are trying to convey all kinds of emotions on this station. Next up is Sadness. No, that's not the name of the song. It's called On The Night. It's by Naboo of Fatal Rage and Youths. And on ModArchive, Vito wrote in 2019, rating the song 9 out of 10, an interesting little composition with some beautiful melodies and lovely progressions. Not only that, but the samples, although not the highest quality, have been utilized in such a way they sound highly realistic.
We need more 4 channel Amiga style mod music. Yes we do. And on the mod archive 2015, giving it a 9 out of 10. Disco B, well I can't read that, she writes I first heard this mod on the Acorn Archimedes in the early 90s and I was well impressed at the time. I'm still quite fond of it.I'd love to know who made it originally. Trivia? I'm pretty sure it was used on Archimedes' called Square Route.
It would be wrong of me not telling you that that was actually originally Bach and it's called Toccata and Fugue in D minor. We're about to leave the airwaves or the podcast. Here's me DJ Demon thanking you for listening and remember that everything about this station is available on Ericade. Radio.Leading you into that good night is Mad God and Opus 58, the final version.
